How old is your fusebox?

It can be a clear cut snapshot into the probability that your electrics might be dangerous by today's standards.

First off, we want to ask, if your fusebox looks like this - a BS3036 rewirable fuse carrier type with the domino fuse fronts - when was the last time you even had a health check on the electrics? All things being equal, you might have been told that your fusebox needs updating even twenty years ago, if you decided to have a health check on your electrics done then. In the 2020's (wow, did I just write that?) you definitely could do with a health check on the electrics and a fuseboard upgrade.

Our guess is, the last time your electrics was monitored and maintained by a professional would have been when it was last rewired, and when that exact fusebox was actually fitted. Other projects such as a new kitchen, new bathroom might have warranted a registered electrician, but even then they may have only done a partial health check on the electrics, checking the parts that were relevant to their project.

We're not going to bore with the "what why and how", because we've already done that for you in previous blog posts!

If you've got a fusebox that looks like this, find out more about your first steps into bringing your electrics up to standard here with a health check on electrics (EICR) here.
